In an exciting collaboration, Pastor Steve from Lifespring Church recently sat down with Dennis Alejo, a key figure at Kingdom Legacy Ministries, to discuss their upcoming mission trip to the Philippines. Set for the first week of November 2024, this 10-day journey aims to make a profound impact on the lives of impoverished children and their families in the central Philippines.
About Kingdom Legacy Ministries
Kingdom Legacy Ministries (KLM) is dedicated to transforming the lives of children who face unimaginable challenges in their daily struggle for survival. In a country where the average adult earns just $3 USD a day or less, families endure extreme hardships, especially in providing nourishment for their loved ones. Children often scour through dumps, searching for anything edible or materials they can sell for food.
KLM refuses to let this cycle of poverty and despair define these children’s lives. Every week, their dedicated team visits eight different locations, providing meals for over 2,500 children. These efforts ensure that the children receive not only physical nourishment but also the love of Christ.
The Mission Trip: A Closer Look
During the interview, Dennis Alejo shared the key activities planned for the mission trip:
1. Family Rice Give-Aways:
The team will provide families with packages containing rice, sardines, and noodles, enough to feed them for a week. This initiative addresses the critical need for daily necessities like food, allowing families to focus on other essential aspects of their lives.
2. Sharing a Message of Hope:
As the team distributes food packages, they will also share the Gospel. Providing basic necessities often opens families’ hearts to hear and accept the message of hope and love through Jesus Christ.
3. Baptism Opportunities:
For those who choose to accept Jesus into their lives, the team will offer the chance for baptism. This powerful step in one’s faith journey is an outward expression of the transformative work of Jesus in their lives.
4. Connecting to Discipleship Opportunities:
The mission trip aims to integrate families into KLM’s ongoing discipleship programs. With 15 Bible study locations and two churches across various feeding sites, families will have ample opportunities to grow deeper in their faith and connect with a supportive community.
The Impact and Call to Action
Dennis Alejo shared his personal testimony during the interview, highlighting the effectiveness of KLM’s programs. As a former street kid who benefited from similar outreach efforts, Dennis understands firsthand the profound impact these initiatives can have. He emphasized the importance of replicating these efforts to create a lasting Kingdom Legacy by investing in the lives of children and families in the Central Philippines.
The mission trip’s special project involves raising $6,500 to provide food packages to 1,000 families across five feeding locations. Each package costs $6.50 and includes an invitation to KLM’s discipleship programs.
